2017 Medicine Hat College Honorary Degree – Bill Yuill

Bill Yuill received an honorary degree from the Medicine Hat College at this year’s convocation ceremony Friday night. “Everyone in the Medicine Hat area knows Bill and the Yuill family because of their service and commitment to our area. Instilling a sense of social responsibility for the communities we live in is important to student learning,” said Dr. Denise Henning, president and CEO of Medicine Hat College. “We are thrilled to honour Bill in this way.”

According to Ken Sauer, a former honorary degree recipient who nominated and introduced the award winner, Yuill has followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather with an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to improve the region and lives of the people living here. “Bill embodies the qualities revered by the college including scholarship, advancement of learning, social responsibility, creativity, innovation, enterprise and public service,” says Sauer.

Bill Yuill left the Medicine Hat College Graduates with the following simple, yet precious words of advice:

“Work hard – just a little bit harder than the person next to you.”

“Keep your word, mean what you say.”

“Be kind to others.”
