Silvertips Collect Over 8,500 Stuffed Animals for Teddy Bear Toss
December 2, 2017
The Everett Silvertips fans came out in swarms to support the annual teddy bear toss on Dec. 2, 2017. The Tips were facing off against the Saskatoon Blades at the Xfinity Arena on Saturday night in hopes for a big win in front of their home town crowd. It did not take long for stuffed animals to fill the ice surface as Everett’s Montana Onyebuchi rifled a shot past the Blades goalie at 6:53 of the first period. Over 8,500 teddy bears were thrown onto the ice by the 5,612 fans in attendance. Not only were the teddy bears impressive, but the Tips did not disappoint as they blew past the Blades 3-0.
The Teddy Bear toss game is designed to collect donations and toys for organizations such as Christmas House, and give them to underprivileged families with children with ages varying from infant to 18 years of age.
The Silvertips have helped collect and donate over 25,000 stuffed animals since the return of Teddy Bear Toss to XFINITY Arena in 2015-16.
